Peridot is the birthstone for the month of August. (It’s also the gemstone for the 16th wedding anniversary.) With a lovely olive green hue, the peridot is one of the few gemstones that occur in only one color–green. Depending on how much iron is contained within the crystal structure, however, the intensity and tint of green in individual peridot stones can vary from yellow-green to brownish-green to bright lime green to a dark olive green.
